Thursday 8th July - Julie Noble signs copies of her Brit-nominated debut children's novel, Talli's Secret. Join us from 2 until 4 to pick up a signed copy and meet the author.

Sunday 1st August
- Mike Bagshaw will be signing copies of his new book, Slow North Yorkshire, which details several walks around the local area and recommends several places well worth a visit, so stop by for some local knowledge, or a signed copy!

Thursday 2nd September - The Whitby Bookshop is thrilled to announce an evening with Shelia Quigley, author of crime thrillers such as Thorn in my Side and Nowhere Man, as well as the Seahills series and Matt Hilton, author of Dead Men's Dust, Slash and Burn and Judgement and Wrath.. From 7 till 9 the authors will be reading from their books and taking questions from the audience. Join us for refreshments and for the opprtunity to meet Sheila and Matt.

Thursday 9th September - The Whitby Bookshop reading group will be meeting at 6pm at The Whitby Bookshop. All newcomers are welcome! This month's book is Raven Black by Anne Cleeves and members of the book group will receive a 20% discount on the cover price.

Saturday 18th September - Bestselling author G. P. Taylor will be appearing exclusively at The Whitby Bookshop from 1 till 3, signing copies of his latest book, Vampire Labyrinth: RedEye. Set during World War Two, this book features young Jago who must face the ancient Vampyres of Whitby. Don't miss this chance to talk to the author of such bestselling titles as Shadowmancer, Mariah Mundi and the series of illustro-novellas, The Doppleganger books.

Saturday 9th October - In the first of October's evening events, we welcome Cassandra Clark, author of the Abbess of Meaux series of medieval mysteries, and Frances Brody, who penned the Kate Shackleton books, which begins with the 1920s Yorkshire-set Dying in the Wool. Both authors are members of the Mystery Women association of female crime writers, who will be reading from their books and, of course, signing copies. As always, refreshments will be served, and the event is free, so stop by at 6:30 for a glass of wine, some nibbles and some hearty crime.

Saturday 23rd - Wednesday 27th October - Every October half-term Whitby's annual Family Feste takes place, with events taking place all over the town. The Whitby Bookshop is a proud supporter, and this year we have several exciting events for young readers.

Saturday 23rd October - Faye Durston, author of lavish tome The Wychwood Fairies, will be appearing to talk to children about the best places to find the world's most elusive fairy folk.
Sunday 24th October - Inspired by James Mayhew and Jackie Morris' picture book Starlight Sailor, trained actor Bidi Iredale will be helping you make your own 'Wishing Boat', which you can then sail away ascross the Bookshop's own 'pond', to dock in our shop window.
Monday 25th October - Faye Durston returns to continue the search for fairies.
Tuesday 26th October - Bidi Iredale is back to grant more wishes.
Wednesday 27th October - Have you ever wanted to make your own book, from scratch? Brit-nominated Julie Noble will be appearing at the Bookshop to show you how!

Saturday 30th October - Sunday 31st October - Whitby, home of Dracula and the Barguest, is no stranger to the gothically-inclined. Every Halloween hundreds of dark individuals descend upon our coastal town, and every year The Whitby Bookshop does its best to remember the literary roots of the whole movement.

Saturday 30th October - This year, our festivities kick off with a visit from Paul Magrs, author of the hugely successful Brenda and Effie series. Set in Whitby, the series follows the lives of a decidedly unusual Whitby B&B owner and her best friend. The series is only getting more popular - why not join us at 7pm to meet Paul and share in his delightfully wicked sense of humour? Refreshments will be provided and entry is free.
Sunday 31st October - Our next visit is from gothic author Michelle James, author of hallucinatory novel Phantoms and Shadows, as well as several collections of short stories. Stop by from 2 till 4 to chat to this established local gothic author, and pick up a signed copy or one of her books!

Saturday 13th November - In the second of our Mystery Women evening events, we welcome the the Bookshop Lesley Horton, author of the chilling Inspector Handton mysteries, and Ann Cleeves, the writer behind the Shetland Quartet and the Vera Stanhope novels, which will be televised on ITV this winter, starring Brenda Blethyn.At 6:30 Lesley and Ann will begin reading from their books and signing copies. Again, entrance is free and refreshments will be served - what better way to while away the cold Autumn evening?
